Professional experience / Graphic Design Internship

Murawei

During a six-month internship at Murawei, a Berlin bookshop and publisher, I designed book covers, educational layouts, website updates, blog banners and print assets.

Context
Murawei.de, Berlin
Period
October 2025 - March 2026
Role
Graphic Design Intern
Contribution
Website design, book covers, educational publishing, blog banners, campaign assets and production
Context

A live online bookshop and publisher (murawei.de) for Russian- and Ukrainian-language books — captions here are in English; the client's own copy is in Cyrillic.

What I made

Illustrated book covers, an educational textbook cover, website visuals, blog and campaign banners, social graphics, stickers and print-ready layouts.

Scale

More than 50 promotional assets across digital and print during the six-month internship.

01 / Overview

Design inside a working retail and editorial system.

Audience
Readers and families looking for Russian and Ukrainian books in Germany and internationally.

Environment
A live online shop with a large catalogue, search, recommendations and editorial content.

Constraints
Frequent content updates, reusable formats and production across both digital and print outputs.

02 / Identity applications

One identity, from expressive image to direct signature.

The puzzle composition presents the Murawei identity as a complete image, while the standalone logo keeps the recognisable green and orange mark available for more direct applications.

The standalone logo keeps the core brand signature clear at smaller scales.

03 / Website

Give a dense catalogue clear visual entry points.

The website work organised a large catalogue around visible categories, search and image-led entry points. The project view shows how book ranges and editorial themes were grouped into a consistent browsing grid.

Focus
Navigation, catalogue hierarchy and category presentation
Constraint
Reusable layouts for frequently changing stock and editorial content
Murawei website with category navigation and a six-tile editorial book grid
Project view of the Murawei website: category navigation and a repeatable grid for adult books, children's books, games and editorial themes.

04 / Publishing design

Build a visual world, then carry it through production.

The publishing work included illustrated covers, coordinated vertical applications and a complete educational textbook cover. Each output balances narrative atmosphere with the practical hierarchy required for title, author, spine and back-cover information.

Cover system
Illustration, hand-drawn display type and reflected compositions
Textbook
Front, spine and back organised as one print-ready outer cover
Two illustrated book-cover mockups in pink and dark blue colour palettes
Two cover directions with distinct atmospheres and a shared illustrative language.
Complete front, spine and back cover design for a literature textbook for bilingual learners
The textbook cover resolves information hierarchy across front, spine and back.

05 / Editorial campaigns

Connect book content with the shopping experience.

Blog and campaign banners translated categories, promotions and reading themes into repeatable formats. The Smart Reading banner below was used in an article published on 24 February 2026, within the internship period.

Formats
Website cards, article banners, social graphics and campaign adaptations
System
Direct labels, flexible imagery and consistent type placement
Grid of nine Murawei campaign tiles for offers, new books, categories and reading themes
A repeatable square system for categories, promotions and editorial themes.

06 / Production

Work across web, publishing and print without losing consistency.

The six-month internship covered more than 20 assets, including website visuals, book covers, educational material, posters, social media graphics, stickers, book add-ons, seasonal campaigns and print-ready adaptations.

07 / Outcome

A real workflow with visible public outputs.

The website remains live and the selected Smart Reading article is publicly accessible. No traffic, conversion or campaign performance metrics are claimed.

Live references

The website and selected article remain public.
